Harper's Farce formed in July 2015 as the mere spark of a cover band. What was once meant to be a temporary gig quickly transformed into an expansive, collaborative storytelling project that spans multiple mediums. Their music tells the story of a strange city where twin suns glimmer through an oceanic expanse above, and the struggles three of its citizens experience in the face of unprecedented crisis.
Drawing inspiration from the storytelling of Coheed and Cambria and Owen Pallet's Heartland, as well as the cinematic swells of Muse, retro-drenched synth of Disasterpeace, and percussion-driven roar of the Dresden Dolls, Harper's Farce hopes to embrace narrative as a uniquely musical medium. The lore, aesthetics, and emotional experience of its characters become concrete elements of the music itself, while continuing to be further explored in other forms of storytelling, such as visual art, writing, and podcasts.
