This eighth tower in Calescai is surrounded by mystery. Completely uninhabited and never traveled to, it has fallen into a state of disrepair. The Truths state that the denizens of the Silent Tower turned their faces away from Empyrean, and were then cursed to become sterile, thus all of their bloodlines died off. The tower has remained empty ever since then.

Wife of Jeremy, Etta is a unique case of Maker. She took the Maker's Mark and was given the task of seamstress. However, in her mid twenties she stopped following her mark and instead chose to sing in a small bar on the edge of the Drudge. Because of this she and her partner were subjected to a powerful tax. When her first daughter Alice died, she became much more reclusive, showing up to sing her shifts and otherwise spending her hours in mystery.
A Maker of 31. He was born in the Maker's quarters of Tower 6. When it came time to take his Maker's Mark he was placed as a banker. He, and his wife, Etta, have been together for 5 years. He is the father of the late Alice who died of M.A.S. and Jessa, who recently was diagnosed with the same fatal illness.
Not only does the Maker’s Mark dictate someone’s job and domicile, but Makers can also exchange marks with others to designate them as partners.
The teachings of The Followers of Daniel are vague on doctrine, however the path of light seems to be a path towards enlightenment of the self. The teachings focus on people learning to trust themselves instead of trusting in any deity of power above them.
A disease that seems to affect only children. It is unknown how individuals contract this disease. It causes the victims lunges to slowly calcify, essentially making them suffocate gradually. It is fatal, however with regular doses of Resperiton the effects can be slowed.
Resperiton: A red viscous medication manufactured in the secret alchemical halls of the Anointed. This liquid, if injected into the lungs, slows the calcification of the tissue, and allows individuals with M.A.S. to live a pseudo comfortable existence for the remainder of their years.
A movement of religious zealots that started in the Drudge. They claim that Empyrean is not truly a god and instead is manmade, and because of that the caste system of Calescai is flawed. They are attempting through various means to gain rights for Drudge and Makers alike, and create a more equal society.
The Makers exist in the middle of the towers and are responsible for crafting and refining materials for both Drudge and Anointed. People take a test called the Maker’s Mark to define their attributes once they complete the Truths. This test informs them what their future options for employment will be, as well as which tower they will make their residence in. Makers can technically refuse to follow the Mark’s directions, however there are massive tax penalties for doing so that make life nearly unlivable.
This large stratified city is most notable by its seven tall towers which reach from the subterranean to nearly touching the ocean above.
The most populous group of people, the drudge are the lowest members on each tower. Unfit for the more refined labor of the Makers, those in the Drudge spend their days mining in the superheated crust for Mycota and other fungi that are needed for survival in the city. They are given small rations of water from the Anointed as rewards for mining the most essential parts of the diet of Calescai.
These are the fundamentals of knowledge that are taught to all citizens of Calescai from the Makers up. It covers the history of the city, the creation of the planet, the structures of the towers, and the sanctities of Empyrean. There are various levels of the truths, and only those at the highest levels of the order of the Anointed are blessed with the entire knowledge of the Truths.
